Job Overview

Position: Transaction Manager – Contract Finance
Bank: Meezan Bank
Function: Investment Banking & Shariah Advisory
Group: Corporate, Commercial & Investment Banking Group
Location: Head Office, Karachi
Experience Required: Minimum 5 years of relevant managerial experience
Education: Minimum Bachelor’s degree
Preferred Education: Master’s in Business Administration, Accounting or Finance
Preferred Professional Qualifications: ACCA, ACA, CFA, ICMA or equivalent
Additional Advantage: Qualification in Islamic Finance

About the Position

The Transaction Manager – Contract Finance will be responsible for managing financing transactions from structuring and documentation through execution, monitoring, and reporting.

The position requires a combination of financial analysis, transaction management, credit understanding, contract review, business development, and coordination with multiple internal departments.

Because the role sits within Investment Banking & Shariah Advisory, candidates should also be comfortable working within the principles and requirements of Islamic banking.

Transaction Execution and Contract Financing

A major responsibility will be managing transaction execution and contract financing activities.

The Transaction Manager will help take financing opportunities from the initial business stage through structuring, approvals, documentation, and execution.

Candidates should understand how financing requirements are evaluated and converted into appropriate facilities while considering the client’s business requirements, transaction risks, documentation, and the bank’s internal policies.

Business Development

The role also involves business development activities.

This means the position is not limited to internal transaction processing. The successful candidate may contribute to identifying financing opportunities, understanding client requirements, developing appropriate solutions, and helping grow the bank’s contract finance business.

Strong commercial awareness and the ability to understand corporate clients and their financing requirements will therefore be useful.

Structuring Financing Facilities

The Transaction Manager will be involved in structuring financing facilities.

This requires understanding the underlying transaction, identifying financing requirements, evaluating associated risks, and helping develop a financing structure that can proceed through the bank’s approval process.

Experience in corporate banking, investment banking, structured finance, project or contract finance, credit, or related areas can be particularly relevant.

Contract Review and Credit Documentation

Another important responsibility is reviewing contracts and preparing credit and approval documentation.

Candidates should be capable of analyzing commercial agreements and identifying terms that could affect financing arrangements, payment flows, obligations, guarantees, and transaction risks.

The role also requires preparing clear documentation for internal review and approval. Strong financial analysis, business writing, and attention to detail are therefore important.

Cross-Functional Coordination

Transaction execution requires cooperation between several departments.

The Transaction Manager will coordinate with teams including:

  • Legal
  • Operations
  • Credit Administration
  • Shariah
  • Trade Operations

The successful candidate will need to ensure that relevant requirements from these functions are addressed before and during transaction execution.

This makes stakeholder management and communication skills particularly important.

Transaction Monitoring and Compliance

The role continues beyond the initial approval of a financing facility.

The Transaction Manager will monitor transaction conditions, milestones, guarantees, documentation, compliance requirements, records, and reporting.

This can involve ensuring that required conditions have been satisfied, guarantees remain properly documented, transaction milestones are tracked, and appropriate records are maintained throughout the financing lifecycle.

Qualification Requirements

Candidates must have at least a Bachelor’s degree from an HEC-recognized institution.

Meezan Bank states a preference for candidates holding a Master’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or Finance.

Professional qualifications such as ACCA, ACA, CFA, ICMA, or an equivalent credential will also be preferred.

A qualification in Islamic Finance will be considered an additional advantage.

Experience Requirements

Applicants should have a minimum of five years of relevant managerial experience.

Candidates should ensure that their CV clearly demonstrates experience relevant to contract finance and transaction management rather than simply stating their total number of years in banking.

Relevant exposure could include transaction execution, corporate financing, credit analysis, financing structures, contract review, guarantees, trade operations, investment banking, or related financing activities.

Skills Relevant to the Role

A suitable candidate should demonstrate strong capabilities in transaction management, financial and credit analysis, contract financing, facility structuring, business development, documentation, compliance monitoring, and stakeholder coordination.

Knowledge of Islamic banking and Shariah-compliant financing structures can further strengthen a candidate’s profile, particularly given the nature of Meezan Bank’s operations.

Who Should Consider Applying?

This opportunity may be relevant to experienced professionals currently working in areas such as Corporate Banking, Investment Banking, Contract Finance, Structured Finance, Credit, Transaction Banking, Trade Finance, or Shariah-compliant financing.

Professionals seeking to move into a role that combines transaction execution with financing structures, client development, documentation, and cross-functional management may find the responsibilities particularly relevant.

How to Strengthen Your Application

Applicants should tailor their CV around transaction and financing experience. Useful information to highlight includes the size and type of financing transactions managed, financing facilities structured, contracts reviewed, credit proposals prepared, corporate clients handled, guarantees monitored, and experience coordinating with Legal, Credit, Operations, Trade, or Shariah teams.

Candidates holding ACCA, ACA, CFA, ICMA, Islamic Finance, or other relevant qualifications should make these credentials clearly visible.
