Position Overview:
As the Resident Medical Officer (RMO) – Allied Surgical, you will be an integral part of the surgical team, responsible for delivering continuous medical care to surgical patients. You will assist in pre-operative assessments, provide post-operative care, support surgical consultants during rounds and procedures, and respond promptly to medical emergencies in the surgical units.
Key Responsibilities:
- Patient Management: Monitor and manage patients admitted to the allied surgical units, ensuring their safety and comfort.
- Pre-Operative Assessments: Assist in pre-operative assessments, ensuring that all preparations are completed and the patient is ready for surgery.
- Surgical Support: Work closely with consultants during clinical rounds, assist in surgeries and other clinical procedures.
- Coordinated Care: Liaise effectively with nurses, anesthetists, and other departments to provide coordinated, patient-centered care.
- Professional Conduct: Maintain a high standard of professional behavior, confidentiality, and ethical practice.
- Post-Operative Care: Provide post-operative care, monitor vital signs, wound conditions, pain management, and recovery progress.
- Emergency Response: Respond promptly to patient-related emergencies, escalate issues to the consultant when necessary, and ensure timely interventions.
Knowledge & Competencies:
- Clinical Expertise: Strong clinical and diagnostic skills, especially in surgical procedures and post-operative care.
- Emergency Management: Ability to handle medical emergencies effectively and calmly.
- Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Teamwork: A compassionate and patient-centered approach, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Requirements:
- Academic Qualification: MBBS from a recognized university, with the completion of a house job. Surgical rotation experience is preferred.
- Work Experience: 1-2 years of experience in a surgical unit is preferred, though fresh graduates with relevant rotations may also apply.
- Other Skills: Strong interpersonal skills, the ability to handle stress, and a commitment to providing high-quality patient care.
