Dr. Ziauddin Hospital is actively seeking an IT Security Specialist to join their team. This crucial role is responsible for ensuring the security of the hospital’s and university’s IT infrastructure. As the IT Security Specialist, you will play a vital role in implementing and managing endpoint protection, monitoring security alerts, and handling privileged access control. You will also ensure the integrity of critical operations and data through cybersecurity and disaster recovery strategies.
Role Overview:
The IT Security Specialist is tasked with ensuring robust cybersecurity within the hospital and university’s IT systems. This includes monitoring and addressing potential security threats, managing security tools, and coordinating with teams to prevent and resolve security breaches. The role will also focus on safeguarding IT systems by preparing for disaster recovery and ensuring timely and efficient responses to security incidents.
Job Responsibilities:
- Endpoint Protection: Deploy and manage endpoint protection (EDR) solutions across Linux and Windows VMs.
- Security Monitoring: Continuously monitor and resolve security alerts using tools like Zabbix, endpoint tools, and server health checks.
- Alert Management: Configure and test email alerts for MySQL and MSSQL servers to ensure timely notifications.
- Privileged Access Management (PAM): Implement and manage privileged access controls using POC and full deployment strategies.
- Disaster Recovery Drills: Support disaster recovery drills by syncing security configurations and validating alert routing to the DR site.
- Security Tools Licensing: Monitor and manage licensing costs for security tools such as EDR, Zabbix, and PAM.
- Documentation: Document security configurations, alert logs, and incident response procedures.
- Security Policy Development: Develop and enforce security policies for endpoints and small systems to ensure overall system integrity.
Knowledge & Competencies:
- Advanced Knowledge: In-depth understanding of endpoint protection tools (e.g., EDR) and alert monitoring systems (e.g., Zabbix).
- Email & Database Security: Proficient in email security, SMTP configuration, and database alert management.
- Cybersecurity Principles: Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, including threat detection, incident response, and data integrity.
- Alert Management: Ability to analyze and prioritize security alerts under time pressure.
- Team Communication: Effective communication skills to coordinate with teams and document security procedures.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Academic Qualification: A Bachelor’s degree in IT or Computer Science.
- Professional Qualification: Cybersecurity Certification in a related field.
- Work Experience: 2 to 3 years of relevant experience in IT security and systems protection.
