Job Summary:

The General Manager – Utilities Maintenance will be responsible for the management, efficiency, and safety of the hospital’s critical utility systems. This senior position involves strategic planning, budget management, and operational oversight to ensure all utility systems function optimally, supporting the hospital’s goal of providing high-quality patient care. The role requires leadership of a team of maintenance professionals and effective coordination with internal departments. The GM will also focus on sustainability and cost-saving initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operations Management: Oversee the daily operations of the hospital’s HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and water systems, ensuring optimal functioning.
• Preventive Maintenance: Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and extend the life of equipment.
• Emergency Response: Implement and manage emergency protocols for critical utility failures, ensuring minimal disruption to hospital services.
• System Performance Monitoring: Regularly inspect systems to identify potential issues or areas for improvement.
• Team Coordination: Coordinate maintenance teams to ensure timely and efficient completion of maintenance tasks.
• Budget Management: Prepare financial reports, manage expenditures, and provide budget forecasts and adjustments as required.
• Additional Responsibilities: Perform any other tasks assigned by top management and the chairman.

Knowledge & Competencies:

• Utilities Management: In-depth knowledge of utilities systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing) and maintenance best practices.
• Financial Management: Strong skills in budgeting, financial management, cost control, and resource optimization.
• Leadership: Proven leadership abilities in team development, performance management, and conflict resolution.
• Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop and execute long-term strategies to enhance operational efficiency.
• Communication: Excellent time management, verbal, and written communication skills.

Requirements:

• Academic Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Facilities Engineering (Master’s preferred).
• Professional Qualification: Certification/diploma in facilities management or operations management (preferred).
• Experience: 16 to 18 years of experience, including at least 5 years in a senior management role overseeing utility systems and maintenance.
