Senior Manager in ESG Risk Advisory at IBDO in 2024

Website IBDO

In an era where a company’s value is intrinsically linked to its purpose, Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) factors have catapulted from a niche concern to a central business imperative. Investors, regulators, consumers, and employees are now demanding transparency, accountability, and genuine sustainable practice. This seismic shift has created one of the most critical and sought-after roles in modern business: the ESG leader.

If you are a strategic visionary with a passion for driving tangible change and possess deep expertise in risk and sustainability, IBDO invites you to explore an unmissable opportunity. We are not just filling a position; we are seeking a pioneer to anchor our Risk Advisory Services as a Senior Manager ESG in Karachi.

This role is designed for a leader who can translate global sustainability challenges into local, actionable strategies, guiding our prestigious clientele toward a more resilient and responsible future.

Why ESG? Why Now? The Landscape of Modern Business

Before delving into the role, it’s crucial to understand the powerful context in which you will be operating. ESG is no longer a “nice-to-have” or a public relations exercise. It is a fundamental framework for risk management and long-term value creation.

  • Investor Pressure: Global investors are allocating trillions of dollars into ESG-focused funds. They use ESG metrics to assess a company’s risk profile and long-term viability.

  • Regulatory Wave: Governments and regulatory bodies worldwide are mandating ESG disclosures. From the EU’s Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (SFDR) to potential SEC rules in the US, compliance is becoming complex and mandatory.

  • Stakeholder Activism: Employees choose to work for, and consumers choose to buy from, companies that align with their values. A strong ESG proposition is a powerful tool for talent acquisition and brand loyalty.

  • Risk Mitigation: Proactively managing environmental risks (like climate change), social risks (like labor practices), and governance risks (like board diversity) protects the company from reputational damage, legal penalties, and operational disruptions.

As a Senior Manager at IBDO, you will be at the forefront of this transformation, helping clients navigate this complex landscape and turn risks into opportunities.

  • ESG Reporting & Disclosure: Guide clients in preparing robust ESG reports, impact statements, and integrated annual reports that meet the requirements of regulators, investors, and rating agencies (e.g., MSCI, Sustainalytics).

  • Stakeholder Engagement: Design and manage stakeholder engagement processes to gather insights and build consensus around ESG priorities.

  • Decarbonization & Climate Strategy: Advise clients on climate-related risks and opportunities, including developing pathways for decarbonization, conducting carbon footprint assessments, and setting science-based targets.

  • Team Leadership & Mentorship: Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing team of ESG consultants, fostering a culture of excellence, continuous learning, and innovation.
