Detailed Job Profile: Senior Inspection Engineer
Position Overview
The Senior Inspection Engineer is the guardian of our stationary equipment assets. Your core mission will be to ensure the mechanical integrity and reliability of these assets, facilitating safe, reliable, and continuous plant operations. This position as a Senior Inspection Engineer goes beyond routine checks; it involves strategic planning, detailed analysis, and driving initiatives that enhance overall plant safety and efficiency.
Your Key Responsibilities as Senior Inspection Engineer : The 5 Pillars of the Role
1. Asset Integrity Management and Inspection Planning
-
Developing and implementing comprehensive inspection plans and schedules for all stationary assets to proactively identify and mitigate potential issues .

Conducting thorough internal inspections of equipment, including pressure vessels, heat exchangers, and piping during planned plant turnarounds (TARs).
-
Utilizing advanced non-destructive testing (NDT) techniques and methodologies to assess asset health without disrupting operations.
2. Turnaround and Shutdown Coordination
-
Coordinating monthly inspection jobs with area engineers and maintenance teams to ensure alignment with production schedules and operational priorities.

Playing a lead role in plant turnarounds, planning inspection activities, managing resources, and ensuring all mechanical integrity work is completed safely and on time.

Documenting findings and providing clear recommendations for repair, replacement, or continued operation of equipment post-inspection.
3. Reliability and Continuous Improvement

Driving reliability improvement studies and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for recurring equipment failures or performance gaps.

Implementing risk-based inspection (RBI) methodologies to optimize inspection frequency and focus resources on critical high-risk assets.

Analyzing inspection data to identify trends, predict failures, and recommend life-extension strategies for aging equipment.
4. Safety and Compliance Standards
-
Ensuring strict compliance with all relevant internal safety standards, international codes (such as ASME, API), and regulatory requirements.

Reviewing and approving inspection and test plans (ITPs) for all new or modified equipment to ensure they meet design specifications and safety standards.

Actively participating in safety audits and contributing to the development of a proactive process safety culture within the organization.
5. Technical Review and Project Support

Providing technical expertise during the review of engineering drawings, datasheets, and specifications for new projects and plant modifications.

Collaborating with project and procurement teams to ensure the mechanical integrity of new assets from the fabrication stage through to commissioning and operation.

Mentoring and providing guidance to junior inspection personnel, fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and technical excellence.
What You Bring to the Role: Qualifications and Skills
Education and Experience
-
A Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.

A minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in inspection or reliability engineering within the oil & gas, refinery, petrochemical, or fertilizer industry.
Technical Competencies
-
In-depth knowledge of international codes and standards (e.g., ASME, API, ASTM).
-
Hands-on experience with non-destructive testing (NDT) methods.
-
Proficiency in risk-based inspection (RBI) methodology and fitness-for-service (FFS) assessments.

Strong analytical skills with the ability to use inspection data management software.
