🧫 Position Overview: Microbiologist

As a Microbiologist at StarchPack Pvt. Ltd., you will be responsible for ensuring that all products, raw materials, and processes meet microbiological safety and quality standards. The role is essential to maintaining the company’s commitment to producing safe, high-quality starch and food products.

You’ll be working closely with the Quality Assurance (QA) Manager, supporting plant operations by conducting tests, validating sanitation procedures, and ensuring compliance with international standards such as GMP, HACCP, ISO 22000, and FSSC 22000.

🧾 Key Accountabilities

As a Microbiologist, you will carry out the following core responsibilities:

1. Microbiological Testing

• Conduct microbiological testing on raw materials, in-process samples, final products, and by-products (such as gluten, fiber, and germ).

• Identify microbial contamination or deviations and implement corrective measures.

2. Water & Utility System Analysis

• Regularly test process water, condensate, cooling tower, and boiler feed for microbial presence.

• Monitor the utility systems to ensure water safety and compliance with hygiene standards.

3. Environmental & Surface Monitoring

• Perform swab tests in production and packaging areas to assess surface and air quality.

• Detect potential sources of contamination and report findings for preventive action.

4. Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) & Sanitation Compliance

• Ensure compliance with GMP standards through routine inspections and microbial monitoring.

• Conduct audits and validations of Cleaning-In-Place (CIP) systems and overall sanitation effectiveness.

5. Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain accurate testing records, sample logs, and compliance reports.

• Prepare detailed microbiological reports for internal audits and certifications.

6. Continuous Improvement

• Collaborate with production, maintenance, and quality teams to improve hygiene, safety, and product quality.

• Stay updated with latest microbiological techniques, tools, and industry standards.

🎓 Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications

To qualify for this position, the ideal candidate should possess the following:

Educational Qualification

• BS or MS in Microbiology from an accredited institution.

Experience

• 2–3 years of professional experience in a laboratory setting, preferably in the food industry or starch manufacturing.

• Hands-on experience in food microbiology, industrial hygiene, and testing procedures.

Certifications (Preferred but Not Mandatory)

• Exposure to or certification in IMS (Integrated Management Systems) such as:

  • ISO 9001 (Quality Management Systems)

  • ISO 17025 (Testing and Calibration Laboratories)

  • FSSC 22000 (Food Safety System Certification)

  • ISO 22000 (Food Safety Management)

Technical and Soft Skills
