Role Overview
As the General Manager – Utilities Maintenance, you will spearhead the strategic oversight of all critical hospital utility systems—ensuring operational resilience, safety, and efficiency. This senior leadership role directly supports the hospital’s mission to deliver uninterrupted, high-quality patient care by maintaining mission-critical infrastructure, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and water management systems.
Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership: Oversee daily operations of all utility systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, water) to ensure optimal performance and compliance with safety standards.

Maintenance Optimization: Develop and implement preventive/predictive maintenance schedules to maximize equipment lifespan and minimize downtime.

Emergency Management: Lead rapid-response protocols for utility failures to prevent disruptions to life-saving hospital services.

Performance & Innovation: Monitor system efficiency, conduct audits, and drive sustainability initiatives to reduce costs and environmental impact.

Team & Budget Management: Mentor a skilled maintenance team, manage budgets, forecast expenditures, and optimize resource allocation.

Executive Collaboration: Report directly to top management, aligning infrastructure strategy with hospital-wide goals.
Qualifications & Competencies
Education
-
Mandatory: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Facilities Engineering.

Preferred: Master’s degree or certifications in Facilities/Operations Management (e.g., CFM, PMP).
Experience
-
16–18 years in utilities/facilities management, including 5+ years in senior leadership (healthcare/hospital experience highly valued).
Skills

Technical Expertise: Mastery of utility systems, maintenance best practices, and regulatory compliance.

Leadership: Proven ability to develop teams, manage performance, and resolve conflicts.

Financial Acumen: Expertise in budgeting, cost control, and resource optimization.
