Key Responsibilities
The Deputy Manager Environment will support the company’s sustainability and environmental performance initiatives. Major responsibilities include:
1. Sustainability and ESG Reporting
- Support the development and implementation of sustainability and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) frameworks.
- Prepare sustainability reports and track environmental performance.
- Support ESG audits and monitor progress against sustainability targets.
- Help align reporting with relevant industry standards, including IFRS S1, IFRS S2, and GRI Standards.
2. Climate Change and Emissions Reduction
- Support climate-related initiatives and emissions reduction strategies.
- Identify opportunities to improve energy efficiency.
- Explore potential carbon market opportunities and related sustainability initiatives.
3. Mine Closure and Rehabilitation
- Support mine closure planning and rehabilitation initiatives.
- Contribute to efforts aimed at restoring affected land and reducing environmental impacts.
4. Biodiversity Conservation
- Support biodiversity protection initiatives and environmental conservation activities.
- Help monitor and improve practices designed to reduce impacts on local ecosystems.
5. Water Stewardship
- Support responsible water management and conservation.
- Help identify opportunities to improve water efficiency and environmental performance.
6. Sustainability Strategy and Benchmarking
- Develop and monitor sustainability targets.
- Research industry practices and benchmark environmental performance.
- Collaborate with different departments to integrate sustainability considerations into business planning and decision-making.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates interested in this position should have:
- A bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably Environmental Engineering.
- 5–7 years of relevant professional experience.
- Knowledge of environmental management and sustainability practices.
- Relevant experience or understanding of ESG frameworks, sustainability reporting, and environmental performance tracking.
- Familiarity with climate initiatives, emissions reduction, energy efficiency, water stewardship, or biodiversity conservation.
Certifications or training in sustainability, ESG reporting, IFRS S1 and S2, and GRI Standards will be preferred. The advertisement does not specify whether these certifications are mandatory.
