Orient Power is seeking a skilled Application Engineer – BESS (Battery Energy Storage Systems) to support its growing BESS projects. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the design, procurement, and execution of energy storage systems. The position is based in Karachi, Pakistan, and the selected candidate will work on electrical infrastructure design, equipment specification, vendor coordination, and ensure the seamless execution of BESS projects.

Key Responsibilities:

As an Application Engineer in the BESS sector, your responsibilities will include:

• System Design and Sizing: Perform BESS system sizing, load assessment, and design optimization based on customer requirements and site data.
• Equipment Specification: Specify and evaluate essential electrical equipment such as transformers, switchgear, cables, RMUs (Ring Main Units), and auxiliary panels.
• Vendor Evaluation & Procurement: Manage the procurement process by conducting vendor evaluations, managing RFQs (Request for Quotes) and RFPs (Request for Proposals), and coordinating procurement activities.
• Technical Documentation: Prepare and review technical documentation, including BOQs (Bills of Quantities), PDI (Post-Delivery Inspection) reports, cable schedules, and design reports.
• Performance Testing Support: Provide support during performance tests to ensure the systems meet both design and operational benchmarks.
• Coordination Across Teams: Collaborate with multidisciplinary departments (design, procurement, project execution, site teams) to ensure seamless delivery of projects.
• Technical Support During Execution: Offer technical support throughout the project phases, including installation, PDI, and commissioning.

Requirements:

• Educational Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Experience: 1-2 years of experience in electrical project engineering, preferably in energy, power systems, or infrastructure sectors.
• Skills:
  • Knowledge of BESS design, sizing, and integration in renewable energy systems is a plus.
  • Proficiency in electrical design tools like AutoCAD, ETAP, and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, datasheets, and system layouts.
  • Familiarity with QA/QC protocols, technical documentation, and performance testing procedures.
• Core Competencies: Strong analytical, communication, and project management skills.
