Your Mission: A Deep Dive into the Deputy Manager QA Microbiologist Role
This is a senior leadership role within our Quality Assurance department, demanding a strategic mind and a hands-on approach. Your primary mission is to oversee, manage, and continuously improve all microbiological aspects of our quality control and assurance systems.
Key Responsibilities & What You’ll Do Every Day
Deputy Manager QA Microbiologist; Your day will be dynamic, blending analytical work with team leadership and strategic oversight. Your core duties will include:

Strategic Microbiological Leadership: Develop, implement, and maintain a robust microbiological testing framework for raw materials, in-process samples, finished products, and environmental swabs.

Team Management & Development: Lead, mentor, and manage a team of QA microbiologists and lab technicians. Foster a culture of excellence, continuous learning, and absolute accountability.

Laboratory Excellence: Oversee the daily operations of the microbiology laboratory, ensuring all equipment is calibrated, methodologies are standardized (following ISO, PSQCA, and other relevant guidelines), and results are accurate and timely.

Data-Driven Decision Making: Analyze microbiological data trends to identify potential risks, non-conformities, and areas for preventive action. Present detailed reports and recommendations to senior management.

Non-Conformance Resolution: Be the first point of contact for any microbiological deviations or out-of-specification results. Lead root cause analysis investigations and ensure effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) are implemented.

Sanitation & Hygiene Verification: Work closely with the production and sanitation teams to validate cleaning and sanitization procedures. Conduct environmental monitoring programs to verify the microbiological quality of the production environment.

Supplier Quality Assurance: Evaluate and audit suppliers based on their microbiological quality parameters, ensuring incoming raw materials meet our stringent specifications.

Compliance & Audits: Ensure full compliance with all local (PSQCA) and international food safety regulations and standards. Serve as a key representative during internal and external audits (e.g., ISO 22000, HACCP).

Non-Negiable Qualifications & Experience:

Academic Credentials: A Master’s degree in Microbiology, Food Microbiology, or Food Science is mandatory. A PhD will be considered a significant advantage.

Industry Experience: A solid 8-10 years of hands-on microbiological quality assurance management experience. This is not negotiable.

Sector Expertise: This experience must be within the dairy industry or the broader Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) sector. Understanding the unique microbial challenges in dairy (e.g., spore-forming bacteria, pathogens like Listeria, yeast/mold control) is crucial.
Essential Skills & Competencies:

Technical Proficiency: Deep expertise in microbiological testing techniques (e.g., PCR, ELISA, traditional culturing), pathogen detection, and identification.

Knowledge of Standards: In-depth knowledge of HACCP, ISO 22000, FSSC 22000, and GMP principles.
